Now it’s Samsung’s Tab update time coming soon by Verizon. Our big red has documented a system software update and the update announced is I905.EL01 for all Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The update has brought many changes and improvements that includes the upgradation to the Samsung TouchWiz user interface, Social Hub widget, the built-in photo editing capabilities and The Daily updates that allows users to access the hot broadcast news from around the world. Okay, not taking much time let’s fathom the changes, enhancements and new additions.
The changes that Verizon Wireless has got to offer with Samsung are as follows:
Top improvements include:
Mini Apps Tray – Quick access to necessary applications for well-organized multitasking that includes new 6 mini apps that can be launched anywhere. It means that you can open it in any current activity for instant access. The apps are task manager, calendar, world clock, pen memo, calculator and media player.
Social Hub Flex Widget – Social Hub which is a powerful tool that allows convenient real time access to multiple access to emails, IM, social networking portals and more. And now a new social home screen widget has been set as you can see the image below.
Quick Panel – The improvements gives a one step access to common device settings where you can adjust settings like GPS, WiFi, notifications and sound from one widget. Isn’t it great?
Photo Library – Before it use to be very time consuming to edit photos and a bit lengthy process but now editing photos is fast with a flick of figure. Now with new updation the editing features like resizing, color adjustment and filter effects are been enhanced where you can directly edit on your tablet.
The Daily –The tablet got exclusive the daily news, entertainment and sports publications in ‘The Daily’ section and now an unique interactive format has been established where you can access the best news from around the world.
Other Enhancements includes:
Device features, enhancements and fixes – The email issue that use to stay bold after reading has been fixed. Apart from that the Google security patches have been applied with enhanced WiFi connectivity. In addition to this the TouchWiz interface has been updated. The DivX, BT 3.0 and addition support that are been added for more wireless WiFi routers.
Applications and Widgets – Few apps and widgets have been added such as AllShare, memo, pen memo, photo editor, my files, social hub and world clock. In addition, music & video player widget have been enhanced.
Email and Messaging – Now the enterprise active sync supports additional security policies.
Enterprise application support – This includes built-in support for industry standard VPN clients like Cisco AnyConnect. Addition to this the strong encryption for data in transmission, hardware encryption and remote wipe capability have been enhanced. Enhancement can be seen in MDM through partnerships with Sybase and Afaria clients.
How to Upgrade System Software in Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1:
All these above were the enhancements and fixes and now it’s time to get these updates into your tablet. This up gradation will be over the air and the download and installation will take 10-15 minutes. You must not use your tablet during the process because it may or may not catch the updatation. The software update size is approximately 351MB. All these were the information you will keep in mind and now will ask how will you know that your system needs updation? You need to check of your own manually.
Step 1: Application->Settings-> About Device ->Software update-> Update (WiFi must be enabled).
Step 2: Select ‘Restart & Install’.
Step 3: After selecting it the device will turn off and turn on automatically and the installation process will get started. Below is the screenshot when the system gets back after shutting down.
The above process was manual and if the system update notification is on then close your eyes and just quickly tap on the pop-up notification and then ‘Install now’. Please remember that not to tap on ’Install later’ because it will delay installation and you will be taken back to the home screen and periodically the update message will pop up every time until you install the update (if the notification automatically selected).
Roaming Software Upgrade:
In case you are out of the state with your tablet, means if it is in roaming then you will not receive the system update notification. You have to manually update it by going to Home-> Application->Settings-> About device->System updates. And if you forgot to turn on your WiFi then to enable it you must go to Settings->Wireless & networks->Tap Wi-Fi to enable. Fret not if the installation goes wrong, just calm down if you see error screen. However, the installation fails by not installing properly and the system will return back to its original software and prompt the installation update of the system again.
