It looks like we may be seeing a release of the Xperia S much sooner than we originally thought. It was first believed that the device wouldn’t be here until later in the quarter – March to be specific – but UK retailer Play.com’s listing for the device says that it will be coming January 30th – that’s just one week from now.
Shocked by the date on the listing, The Inquirer reached out to Play to confirm January 30th availability and they said it wasn’t a mistake at all. The Sony Xperia S was announced at CES and will ship as one of the first smartphones without Ericsson branding as Sony and Ericsson look to end their mobile phones partnership, the former swallowing up the latter.
It’s a pretty good device with its 4.3 inch display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 12 megapixel camera and NFC chip. You can put your preorder in now for 450 and it will ship for free.
